Spoiler alert!

According to E! News, True Blood is planning to show Eric’s father in a flashback scene. Here’s what the casting call says:

In his 40s to 50s, warm, a battle-scarred Swedish Viking king, [Ulfrick] is Eric’s father, seen in a flashback to 900 A.D. Though they have a good relationship, there is some tension between father and son, because Ulfrick wants Eric to learn responsibility and behave in a manner befitting royalty…GUEST STAR (47) ACTOR MUST SPEAK FLUENT SWEDISH

Does anyone else find it really sad that almost all Eric fan art now depicts him with short hair because of the show? Alexander Skarsgard looks amazing without the wig, I grant you, but Eric Northman – the Viking we know and love – has long hair. Please, fan artists, give us our long-haired Eric!

Season 3 tidbits

While you’re waiting for the season 2 DVD (May 25th!) and book 10, here are a couple of very small season 3 spoilers from Alexander Skarsgard:

And from EW’s Michael Ausiello:

“I’d say [Eric's season 3 journey is] about revenge,” [Alex] told me. “He will continue to explore the whole Sookie thing and what that’s all about. He’s trying to figure out what’s different about her. He’s intrigued by that. And in addition to that, there’s something that happened a thousand years ago that he’s still carrying in his heart. All I’ll say is he’s trying to avenge someone.”

The True Blood Twitter players have a special treat in store for fans on Wednesday night at 9 pm Central: they’re going to perform the short story “Dracula Night” live! Click here for more details.

“Dracula Night” is about Eric getting all excited about a possible visit from Dracula at Fangtasia. It’s very funny and has lots of hot Eric action – as well as priceless Eric dorkiness. You can read it in the Sookie anthology A Touch of Dead if you haven’t already.

Buzzy Multimedia has a new interview with Alan Ball. Not much about Eric, but what’s there is good:

“I just closed a deal to show-run for two more seasons, so I would assume that [the series is at minimum] going through Season Four.”

“Season Three is a big Eric season and Season Four is really big for Eric’s character, according to the books.”

Entertainment Weekly scans

Entertainment Weekly’s “Best and Worst of 2009″ issue is full of True Blood lovin’. The cast is featured in the Entertainers of the Year section, and True Blood gets TV Series of the Year. Click the image below to see the scans in the gallery!

The one thing that puzzles me? This:

By doing things such as making Stephen Moyer’s Bill and Alexander Skarsgard’s Eric equal attractions for the affection of Anna Paquin’s Sookie, [...] Ball could have alienated the Stackhouse-books diehards.

Um…. Note to Ken Tucker: the Sookie/Bill/Eric triangle is in the books. But you named our show the series of the year, so we forgive you. And this, I love:

Moyer says he and Skarsgard are hoping the history between Bill and Eric is explored even further in season 3, which debuts next summer. Explains the actor, “Me and Alex have this dream that we’re going to cut to Bill and Eric in this disco in the ’80s in, like, Berlin or something. And Bill’s in leather.”

How about pink spandex for Eric? ;)
