I have stories that I love to re-read on ocassion because they are so moving and depict how I see Sookie and Eric....and this series is one of them....I really love this story!! I can't believe it only has two reviews!!!
Have you ever thought about what protects our hearts?
Just a cage of rib bones and other various parts.
So it's fairly simple to cut right through the mess,
And to stop the muscle that makes us confess.
Terrific choice of lyrics!
It amazes me you can write so moving a story in a one-shot.
Never imagined Eric would go to ground. It was okay for Bill in my mind (ducking from the debris thrown my way right now by Bill fans) but not Eric. But I love the reason. I like, too, that his notes have become ‘customary.’ I’d be saving those!
So many other writers would take a paragraph or two to attempt to even come close to the power you evoked in two the joining of two simple words: ‘nightly satisfaction.’ I love the brevity and also the consummate skill of your words.
I infinitely prefer your story of what happens with Eric and Sookie after the altercation with Sigebert and the Nevada takeover. Your Sookie has finally come to terms with her feelings for him to accept him into her life.
“He had included “in an outfit of my choosing”, which was the only thing she’d nixed.”
That’s our Eric. :)
Loved her swat when he tells her “even if he smells like a dog.” Playful and sweet.
“The only thing so far that ever darkened their time together was the idea that they’d missed out on almost a year of it.”
Very moving. This had me stopped cold in the story as I tried to push through it several times, my mind pained by both their losses for so long.
“It bothered her that, from what she could tell, the ruled pages all seemed to be blank.”Cue the foreboding music here. :)
“If hatred were a perfume, Arlene would have reeked of it.”
and
“the mental force of her loathing was slamming into Sookie’s barriers like one tidal wave after another.”
I find this such artistry! You are a Queen in metaphoric voice.
“Okay, Operation Obnoxious Bitch was in full swing.”
Another resonant moment.
“They could acknowledge her ability and turn it against her but they could not acknowledge the existence of magic? Magic that could keep a man alive for the thousand years it took him to reach her and love her and make her feel sane, safe and complete.”
Impressive. Wonderful. Flawless. Just the idea that they possibly and magically exist for each other in some destined way is warming.
“A third had been knocked out cold by a swift punch from Terry, who no one thought had it in him to ever dip into the violence of combat again.”
Terry to the rescue! Who’d have thought he could? Love it!
“Marry me, it asks, complete with a question mark, in his strong hand surround by little notes and pictures, half-formed ideas of what he can say to convince her.”
You make me wish I could see the card. My mind bursts with my own theories of what backup he wrote to the question. LOVE IT.
Thank you AGAIN and again and again for sharing your talent.
I love this series. Please keep going.
