From all the fanfictions I have read - not so many but sure a couple - this author manages to stay true with original characters and not getting to soft or cheesy. And it´s incredibly funny as well.Of course adult content
That was so spot on character-wise I keep getting it confused with the real series when I think back. Amazing!jbarrington wrote:BACK FROM THE DEAD

The story thus far …
The life of a telepath is no leisurely coast up the bayou. As a matter of fact, it’s more like falling overboard and wrestling with the alligators. Fighting off the unwelcome innermost thoughts of humans, my whole life, proved to be so challenging that most of the locals labeled me as crazy. 24/7, my mind involuntarily read the thoughts of most humans within close proximity. Then my eyes were opened to the mysterious world of the supernatural also known as the Supes. Realizing that you are on the bottom of the Supe food chain, as well, is bound to put a negative spin on a gal’s Joie de Vivre.

I, J. Barrington, am an avid fan of the Sookie Stackhouse paranormal mysteries by Charlaine Harris, so much so, that waiting for the next book was not an option! This new story picks up after book 9. Join in as we continue to pay homage to CH in a continuing saga of the Sookie Chronicles. The characters are just too delicious to lie dormant while Charlaine pens the next masterpiece. Tune in weekly for the next installment of Back from the Dead.

It starts out a bit slow, the characterization of characters is dead on, it satisfies a need to see the characters grow, answers many questions, and it has real adventure and plot twists. I find myself mentally referring to conversations and events from this story, and forgetting that it's not part of the real Sookie universe. I am impressed by her understanding of the characters. It brings more depth.
There's also this really funny, cute short story that makes fun of the wait for "Dead and Gone" book.

There are daily fanfiction update posts with links to the new chapters (if you're a writer there's a form you can fill out to have your fic featured) and there's also the 'Fanfictasic Friday' section where you can recommend your favourite fics (another simple to complete form) or just have a read at the fics that others have recommended.
