Why Sookie may not end up with Eric (or any other vamp)

Postby adh1006 » Sat Feb 27, 2010 4:05 pm

As I was making breakfast, I found myself thinking about True Blood and the Sookie Stackhouse novels. As much as I wanted to see Sookie end up with Eric, I don't think it's going to happen. When she's 95 and wrinkled with gray hair, and covered with age spots, I don't think Eric (or any other vampire for that matter) will find her so beautiful and alluring. So that's why I don't think Sookie will spend the rest of her life with a vampire.

What do you think?

I don't think sookie's physical attributes are the sole or most important reason that eric (or bill) loves her. If they were together, I think he'd be able to deal with her aging. In DAG, eric told sookie that he'd never turn her, b/c he knew she didn't want that. So he tacitly accepts that she'll be aging and eventually die. If her appearance mattered that much he would have dropped her after he realized she wouldn't become immortal and not gone to the lengths he did to save her. Besides, even if she married a mortal, the aging thing would still be an issue. A mortal man who loves her would be just as likely to find her not alluring/alluring with age as a vampire who loves her would.

Bontempsired/Adh1006:
I'm choosing to answer both of you at the same time about who Sookie should end up with.

William Thomas Compton III had been sent to BonTemps to make contact with her~he had no
intention of falling in love~But when fate interveined in the form of the Rattray's trying to drain
him and Sookie stopping them~things changed.

Now as we all know Sookie has had Bill's blood on a few occaisions and he's had hers.
In the books she's also had Eric's blood twice~once at the bar,and the other time in Dallas.

I would think that she has enough Vampire Blood in her to ward off her aging for who knows
how many years?
Think about it~Her blood has had some kind of chemical change from the addition of the blood
from Eric & Bill?

Bill knows why he wants her~But Eric doesn't,he only knows he has to have her.
Now who she will end up with is in the mind of Charlaine Harris~and not any of us.
Though we wish we could write who Sookie will end up with.

For some reason I'm so convinced Sookie will die, and therefore end up with no one. Because that's the only way things really aren't going to be worth writing about, isn't it?

I think she'll end up alone too.

She pushes all of her love interests away and runs when things get rocky. Eric has been chasing her for 9 books - eventually he, and all the others, will get tired of the chase.

CH has specified that her HEA is already in the mix and that no new love interests will be introduced, but seeing as she had the turnaround from intending to bump Bill off in book 9 and swap Bill being a "Rat Bastard" into her loving him a little again just because he was there at the shack in Arkansas, who's to say she won't change it up again?

Money talks and although Bill's babes are a minority they are very vocal and Ms. Harri$$ seems to be listening.

Janofarac:
Charlaine Harris has told the fans in interviews that she's the only one who knows how/who Sookie
will end up with~and she's said she's not telling anyone who that will be.

Also about the books~Ms.Harris said that she'd has enough material for 4 more books~~BUT each
time she thinks she's come to the end she'll think of something for Eric "Oh yes,I can see Eric doing
that or saying that " and continues writing.

IMO,I really think that she'll end up with Eric~it has something to do with Bill's betrayal.

But I'm content to leave it up to Charlaine Harris~Finding out is so much fun.
But then the guessing games are fun too.

I'm glad there's been so much feedback to this topic because I have been thinking about it ever since Season 1. I hope that the books and the show have a different ending for Sookie because there won't be anything special if Sookie ends up with Eric in the books and in the show. That would be too predictable. There's no excitement in something that's predictable.

My gut feeling is that Sookie will end up with Eric, though it won't be an easy road for either of them.
Of course, being an Eric fan, my own personal feelings are also involved. Really, though, the only person who knows for sure is CH and she ain't tellin'. Which is a good thing, I love going along for the ride!

If Sookie an Eric don't end up together, my vote is for Sam. I really don't care to see her with anyone else.

I think she will end up with him, or at least for a substantial amount of time... but I would love to see her be turned, personally :P
However, if she was turned, their relationship still may not be what most of us are looking for in them as Vamps apparently dont usually have relationships with other vamps so I assume they dont last long together either on the rare occasions they gettogether.

I would love to see her turned, too......CH said it wouldn't happen, but maybe she'll change her mind? Like letting Bill live after all?

I think Sookie and Eric could very well stay together forever if she became a vampire. True, most vamp-vamp relationships don't last that long, but they have such an intense blood bond I think it would be an incredible union.

Maybe it's just the romantic in me, but I want to see them together for eternity - as this unstoppable, supernatural force. Sookie'd be a badass (not getting violently injured on a regular basis), and hopefully still telepathic; Eric would be his usual hot, dangerous, intensely loyal, brilliant and ferocious self.....and together they'd be a major force to be reckoned with!

A girl can dream, right?

Skarlove:
Charlaine has promised she'll never turn Sookie.

But you do have to think that Sookie's at the point where she's had enough Vampire Blood that
she's going to live a real long time~and her fae blood will make her immortal without being turned.
Sookie made Eric promise "That he'd never turn her" he agreed.
he does love her and wants to spend the rest of their lives together.

Sookie feels safe with Eric~more than she does with Bill.

I know CH said it wouldn't happen, and that Sookie made Eric promise. But I'm just hoping against hope. She's only part fae, so she wouldn't live as long as Niall.....but the vampire blood certainly will give her some extra years. I want eternity, darn it!

I can't wait to find out what kept Eric away. The "You're killing me" lines give me goose bumps.

Skarlove:
If you've read book 9 then you know that Naill leaves her with a delima and a unanswered
question: the Vampire is no good for you.
But he didn't say which vampire he was talking about.

Sookie wants to "come first with the man she falls in love with".

Quinn has issues~namely his mother and sister.
Sam is too much like her brother/friend for her to be comfortable with.
Bill lied to her~and has not really told her the real reason he sought her out.

Eric: He has his own adgenda going on.
He's powerful~would love to be "A king of Lousiana".
Loves running Fangtasia, loves the attention he gets from his "children/Pam"
loves making money~But loves Sookie. Wants her to be his Queen.
hence the "Marriage/cermony with the knife".
He respects her. Would do anything for her.
He is the one who brought Naill to her.
he's been attracted since Season 1,Episode 3 when he saw her in Fangtasia.

I'm guessing that what kept Eric away is this:
Eric wants Sookie to "come to him of her own free will" without wanting anything from him.
Execpt maybe his body~he doesn't want her to get rid of anyone,do anything bad to anyone.

Eric only wants Sookie to want him and him alone.~without reserverations.
And not thinking about Quinn,or Bill, or Sam, or Alcide.

Eric wants to be "Sookie's Only One"~now do you get it. :viking:

Hello,

Niall's actual quote is that the Vampire is a good man, and that he loves Sookie. You're right - he doesn't say which one he means before he disappears, but her dilemma is a bit different from what you mention in your previous post.

I think it's something much more serious that kept Eric from rescuing her personally - not just a mind game/relationship test of making sure she really is ready to be his and his alone. I think he might have been kept against his will somehow, or that his staying put was an integral part of her rescue by Niall and Bill.

All this speculation remains to be seen, of course.......but at leas twe know from Chapter 1 of DITF that Sookie finally admits her real feelings!

Skarlove:
Eric is/was thankful that Sookie was able to stay with Godric when he "met the Sun".
I think he'll always be grateful to her for being at Godric's side when he died.
Eric loved Godric more than we can ever know.
That is Alan Ball's fault for "Dropping the ball and not directing his attention to Godric's storyline
instead of Maryanne Forrester"

Is anything else holding him back from Sookie?
Can't/Don't really know.

I'm getting vibes off of William Thomas ComptonIII that I don't really like.
He's never really been totally honest with Sookie.
We will find out things in Season 3 about his late wife Caroline, his connection to
Andy Bellefleur~I wonder if he will ever tell Andy of their "connection"
And what about Lorena~she's still lurking around in the background.

And I don't trust her as far as I can throw her.
